D/1 – Ethical Real Estate Development Accelerator
An ethical real estate development accelerator that provides education, 1:1 coaching, and funding to residents of disinvested neighborhoods to build or renovate projects in their own communities.
The Ethical Real Estate Development Accelerator provides Black and Brown residents of disinvested communities the means to participate in the real estate development industry and create generational wealth and stability for their families. The accelerator has three self reinforcing components including The Classroom, The Guide, and The Fund. The Classroom expands to know-how by teaching individuals and organizations how to plan, finance, and develop their first project, which increases access, participation, and collective knowledge. With this knowledge, participants have gone on to build and renovate property, hired people of color in the trades, organized to fight gentrification, and shared their knowledge with their communities. The Guide connects participants to a network of professionals through the development of their first project. The Fund provides provide debt and equity financing for participants’ projects who are committed to providing benefits to the wellbeing of their community. This increases investments in ethical development and accelerates the pace of local ownership and generational wealth creation.
